Also, like i said, i have 5 quarts in mine, when i glanced under last week for the first time in months, i did not see any oil on cover or at vent tube base.

This weekend I will crawl under for you now i am filling better and pull dip stick and look for any signs of leaks.

Most of the overfill stuff i have seen, guys will see oil spray all under the truck out the tube, not just a leak like yours.

The seal should have fluid splashed all over it while driving, so even overfill, why would that matter on the seal.

There's oil on gas tank and bottom of bed where's it sprayed from driveshaft

Ive got a 900 mile trip this weekend. I hope she holds up:(. I'll take a extra quart of Oil with me

It'll be fine, it is a very slow leak, you would have to have really low fluid.

Did your truck ever have tsb done for noise/bang driveshaft? The one tsb called for new pinion flange or something didnt it? They could have damaged seal then. Also the nut needs rtv to prevent leaking. It is not hard to replace seal if you have the puller for flange. It is like a pulley puller type thing. The tech at dealer on lift should be able to do it in an hour max.

They wanted $250 to do it NOT I've got everything here just need time. 4 bolts and One nut then remove
Flange pop seal install new one

look up into about a crush sleeve on there, I think it is already good on these trucks.

Anyways, Friday after the gym, i climbed under the truck. No leak from cover, factory fill hole, front seal(nothing on front side of housing, I did not look above drive shaft, but if it was leaking from seal, some would go down anyways), vent tube on axle or anything. I went to pull the dipstick but had crud up on top and had no towel to wipe clean so I did not do it. Did not want anything falling inside.

Again, It has 5 quarts in it, that went to the top line(max full) of dip stick, which is supposed to be even with factory fill hole. I never pulled factory fill plug either like I mentioned.

So you have the crud also. Lol At least I'm not alone. Got back from trip and tailgate has oil film all over and of course stinks! Oil level ok tho. Taking it to different dealership next week and explain what the deal is and if they can't then will do it myself

No, i meant crud as in dirt etc from driving just on the external of the diff. If i pulled the dipstick, it could of falling in the hole of the diff cover and I did not want to risk that.

Did you ever have the TSB done back there? No reason that seal would fail on a such a new truck.

Good news!!!!!!!found a small town dealership that will work with me. Even though he couldn't duplicate the thump in rearend he believes me that it does happen and is going ahead and doing the TSP 14-0090 but said that he would have to put their oil in it and I would have to pay for the extra oil. Outstanding!!!! he said he'll have parts in tommorow and can pick it up Friday :):):). Just in time to go to PC Beach for 4 days on Saturday :):):)

Yes that is what I was referring too. I was asking if your dealer or previous owner of your truck had that done before because the dealer could installed it back wrong/damaged the seal. That tsb isn't for a leak really, looks like the dealer is nice.

Sucks you have to loose the Amsoil.

I explained the situation with other dealership about leak so he did t even say anything about leak to ford rep. For Approval But I said that happened (thumped) mostly when towing and in tow mode then happened shifting between 5th and 3rd shifting up and down. Also said that it clicked when putting it in reverse first thing in the am when cold outside (below 40*). The service manager is a one man show and hands on kind of guy:):). The oil situation really sucks but not complaining

parts took longer to come in, so I went ahead and took truck to beach then when I go,t back turned it in on wednesday and got it back on Friday. didn't have to pay for extra oil ether. the Service manager was gone that week (heart stint), but explained to the intern manager that I was to pay for the extra 2 quarts, be he said don't worry about it. I signed the paper work and left thanking them for there work. sorry for the delay in response and yes i'm a happy camper:):):)
